We clear the smoke & mirrors surrounding Digital Print speak
25-Oct-2010 Every industry and trade has their own professional terms which often sound like babble to those not in the know. Some mighty confusing ones we quite like (but don't necessarily understand!) are quirk, plastisol, F-stop, seagull entry, load ratio, bump in, freeboard. Sounds bizarre, right? Our trade is no different. Signwriting and digital technology alike have terms specific to the industry which at times can seem overwhelming. Part of our print and sign relationship with you is to clear away the smoke and mirrors surrounding digital print and clear a nice, simple path for you to your business and personal signage solutions without you needing a trade certificate. Let us deal with the technicalities.
Of course, sometimes understanding some of the processes we undertake to create your signage and prints can really help you to clarify exactly what you want. With this in mind, we've put together a short glossary of terms relating to digital technology which will help you understand and communicate with those around you. Likewise, if you'd like to drop by for a chat about dot gain, bleed, resolutions, flatbeds, masking, vectors or feathering - we'd be happy to shout you a JAVA.
